Sun Enters Libra

Sun transits into Libra on Sunday, October 16th and will continue there until November 15, 2016. The Sun signifies your physical health, vitality, self-esteem, father, and even your soul. Sun doesn’t feel comfortable in Libra. It is his debilitation or lowest power position. It’s like he falls down to earth during this month. The good thing is that this is an opportunity to get to know Sun more and build a better relationship with him. Libra is an air sign ruled by Venus. Venus is a luxury-loving planet of love, beauty, the Goddess, and the arts. And wealth. Libra can bring blessings of being popular, peace-loving, and having harmonious relationships with others. Libra is called Tula in Sanskrit. Libra is a sign of harmony and balance. Libra’s symbol is a man in a bazaar, or open-air market, with a scale in his hand. The symbol shows how Libra energies support business, negotiation, and finding balance. This can mean finding win-win solutions that benefit everyone, being successful in business – putting together a good deal, and being diplomatic. As the natural 7th house of the zodiac, Libra is all about creating and maintaining relationships. This involves compromise and balancing the needs of each person involved. Learning to stay balanced is a big theme. Libra is the halfway point through the zodiac. Libra can also lead you to develop a strong relationship with the Divine through love and devotion. But don’t try to please everyone, or compromise your core values too much. In negotiation, you have to know what the minimum deal that would be workable for you and be able...

Ancestor Adventures Continue

We may especially need help with balance during this two week period called Mahalaya or the time that the ancestors are close to the earth plane.  The ancestors can upset or bother us at this time so we have to continue to offer the tarpanam to them. Learn how. AstroVed and Pillai Center are still offering services for the last half of this time period. Learn more. Sucharita gave us lively insights on the Mahalaya Paksha. Sucharita tells us to pay attention to signs that come to us from other dimensions.  Be aware that the ancestors are constantly trying to thwart us in our forward progress.  They want to be fed!  And they will bother us until we pay attention to them. Sun in Virgo – Cleaning Up, Moving on Up

The Sun is a star with a tremendous amount of light and intelligence. In Vedic Astrology, Sun symbolizes your soul, activity, the king, and your father. From September 16th through October 16th, Sun will be transiting through Virgo. Virgo is the most practical and detail-oriented of the signs. It is ruled by Mercury, a planet of intellect, communication, business, and wealth. In Sanskrit, Virgo is called Kanya. Virgo is symbolized by a virgin in a boat with grains in one hand and a light in the other. The virgin symbolizes purity and love of the Goddess energy. Grains are the staff of life, which show us that Virgo energy includes being in touch with how to survive. Light is higher consciousness. Sun in Virgo is going to give you the energy to pay attention to and take action to perfect the practical details of life. Jupiter is also transiting Virgo, bringing wisdom and blessings into the process. Virgo brings in energies of striving for perfection, managing the details, doing service, health, purification, and impeccability. It can give you a strong mind to remember facts and details. Logical thinking including analyzing and criticizing, and technical knowledge thrive here. Another important theme for Virgo is perfection through purification. Be careful not to go into worry or excessive criticism. Embrace your intelligence and skills. Virgo reminds us that deep within matter is pure Divine energy. Virgo is associated with Goddess energy, including siddhi (supernatural) powers. The powerful 9 Nights of the Goddess, or Navaratri, will be bringing in a flood of Goddess energy beginning October 1st. Virgo is the natural 6th house...

Get Ready for the Family Reunion – Mahalaya Paksha

One of the tools Dr. Pillai has given us is the service of Tarpanam.  This is the offering of “food” to the ancestors who may be bothering or blocking us.  They are asking us to help them to move along on their own spiritual path.  Once a year is a two week period where the ancestors are very close to the earth plane called Mahalaya Paksha.  This is an especially auspicious time to honor and propitiate the ancestors. Participating in Mahalaya Paksha will help all the other rituals and remedies that we participate in be more powerful. Read about this event below in the upcoming event section.  Sucharita reminds us not to call on any specific ancestors, but to be very general, inviting any ancestor who needs this energy. Also only do the Tarpanam during the daylight hours.  Learn how to offer tarpanam to your ancestors. Here are some important upcoming dates/events: 11th Waxing Moon (Ekadasi) – Sunday, Sept 11 10:36 pm EDT – Monday, Sept 12 @ 10:27pm EDT.    This is a Power Day for spiritual growth, as well as material gains, because Vishnu, the archetype of wealth, is highly active on this day. There are rituals offered at AstroVed  on this day, but here are some things you can do at home: Seed a Tulsi plant, water it or offer prayers to a Tulsi plant (Vishnu is fond of Tulsi.) Drink Tulsi tea Wear a Tulsi mala Chant a simple mantra for Vishnu, “Om Namo Narayanaya,” and offer light and incense to a Maha Vishnu Yantra Become conscious of your thoughts – conceive of unlimited money and success...

Reclaiming Your Royalty

This month the Sun will be very strong as he travels through his own house Leo. Sun, the royal planet of energy and activity, signifies your soul. Leo is a sign of leadership and power. Called Simha in Sanskrit, Leo is symbolized by the king of the jungle – the lion. Leo can bring gifts of leadership, ambition, shining brightly and being an example for others. Leo can give you self-confidence, pride, and respect from others. Like a king, you can be charming, serve people, and defeat enemies when necessary. Evolution in Leo can involve confronting your ego and learning to detach from it. Express yourself and get recognition. Be careful not to be too self-centered or dominating. The Sun never takes a day off. Even on a rainy day, the Sun is shining behind the clouds. The Sun’s rays shine on everyone, whether a beggar, a king, an animal, a plant, or a stone. What if you were that steadfast about shining our own light into the world every day? What would that look like in your life? As the natural 5th house of the zodiac, Leo relates to children, creativity, and God. The 5th house gives the impulse to create, whether it is procreation of children or through developing projects or launching a business. Repeating mantras, doing poojas, speculation and intelligence, romance, luck and entrepreneurship are also 5th house matters. Other Planetary Influences Rahu is also transiting Leo. Rahu is a planet of innovative ideas, obsessions, and addictions. Rahu brings in a trickier energy as unpredictable and poisonous events can happen. Venus, planet of the arts, beauty,...
