Birthstars are stars that are part of specific constellations. There is a birthstar associated with each planet in your astrological birth chart. Birthstars are called Nakshastras in Sanskrit. There are 27 of them.
At the most basic level, birthstars work similar to Western zodiac signs in that they tell you about your character, interests and motivations in life.
Each month a birthstar's energies are active for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. During the time of your Moon sign birthstar each month, you are more open to receiving benefits and positive energies.
Your birthstar time is an ideal time to focus on your goals for that month and put intention on realizing your dreams. You can request a ritual in honor of your birthstar or a different birthstar with the qualities and characteristics you desire.
How does a birthstar work for any ritual I request?
For most fire labs or rituals you might request and for general Vedic astrology purposes the most important birthstar is the one associated with your Moon sign. When you sign up for a fire lab or ritual or do one in person you provide your name and your Moon sign birthstar, which the Vedic specialist will say during the ritual being done for you. If the ritual is being done for someone else the Vedic specialist will say that person's name and their Moon sign birthstar during the ritual.
