Matsya Avatar is the first incarnation of Vishnu, the Ultimate Protector. Vishnu, in this avatar, incarnated as a gigantic fish during the time of Pralaya, the great deluge, and saved King Manu and Sapta Rishis (Seven Sages) to ensure the continuance of life on Earth. Propitiating the Matsya form of Vishnu brings prosperity and good fortune, enhances perception, removes past and present bad karma, eliminates impediments, and offers spiritual awareness and discernment.
