sun worship

How do astrology and laziness relate to each other? Not at all—you guessed right—but knowing where our blockages to success are coming from is a prerogative of astrologers.

The study of Vedic astrology need not be difficult, especially when we have support from the divine forces responsible for our consciousness: the planets. Learning how to turn your weaknesses into strengths might require some study, but with a little guidance you may be able to understand the stars faster than you can ask, “What’s your sign?”

Below are five super-easy steps to start (or improve) your astrological research and avoid lethargy at the same time.

Become friendly with the planet of astrology. Mercury (now strong in Capricorn)—meaning the planet of our analytical capacities, quick thinking, calculating skills and curiosity—is known as the celestial body that helps us in astrological research. Every time we want to get in touch with a planet’s energy we can talk to him (yes, they are all males). And there are two main ways to speak to a planet.

The first is by normal thinking, accompanied by love and respect. Just telling Mercury that you want to learn about him and the other planets, their energies and the cosmos will increase your awareness of these domains. In Vedic astrology we also ask Bhrigu (the Rishi who is said to be the father of this system), Ganesha and Saraswati for permission and blessings for studying astrology.

The second way of communicating with a planet is by the use of powerful Sanskrit sounds. Mercury’s are: OM BUDHAYA NAMAHA (108 times daily). No time? 27 repetitions are fine, too.

Worship the Sun. In our modern world worshipping the Sun may not be as common as it was in ancient times, so this luminary may seem to us like a mere source of heat and light.

But the Sun signifies our soul, personal power, the father, the government, VIPs, and the overall success in our lives. The Sun is now transiting in unconventional and innovative territory—Aquarius. This is a sign that wants to improve everyone’s life and leave a better world to posterity—planets here can help you start astrological research and study hard to achieve these goals.

Astrology may be a relatively new way to change the world at large and help humanity. After all our science has not yet given us all the solutions to our current crises. By expanding our understanding of who we are and why we act in the ways we do can stem from analyzing the effects of divine forces on our consciousness.

Talk to the Sun, and if possible, join your hands and bow to him. State that knowing more about your soul is your goal and that you will help and serve others after achieving success in your work or career. Ask for his blessings with the sound vibrations OM SURYAYA NAMAHA and watch for an increase in energy and power.

know the planets

Learn about the planets. A Vedic astrology book can easily become your first teacher of astrology. Twenty years ago, one of these books changed my life. As I delved into its pages a mysterious world (very different from the Western astrology that I knew) opened up to me and brought me gems of truth about my origins and subtle realities.

But any astrology book may help you in the beginning. In my case, I found more answers in the Vedic (or Indian) system of Jyotish. You may love learning about each planet and its influence on your thoughts.

Overcome the downside of Pisces. There are currently three planets in Pisces—Venus, Mars and Ketu. As I write this, also the Moon has joined the trio. And Pisces may take some getting used to for those who don’t have planets or the ascendant in this sign of Jupiter.

While your intuition has likely soared due to the emphasis on this intuitive sign, you may now feel like taking time off and letting go of the world to focus on your spiritual evolution. Obviously this is both a blessing and a big difficulty when we have jobs, families and responsibilities.

Although an exalted Venus can boost your finances, it may also cause some laziness. In Pisces its energy expands into space: poetry, gentle dance and love for all may now take priority over other interests.

Solution: turn to Mars for help. Mars is the planet that can emerge from the Piscean waters by taking action. Make a daily list of goals: exercise, meditation, and sticking to your work schedule should now be on top of the list.

But you will also find support for travel to faraway places, learning about other forms of worship and a new business that includes spirituality or real estate thanks to the presence of Ketu.

Trust your soul. We are all born with a certain amount of soul knowledge. As children we don’t doubt this natural understanding of life, but as we grow older the conditioning starts. So we may feel separate from others, we doubt ourselves, we unlearn trusting our intuition or worse, we dismiss it as imagination. But even Albert Einstein has been quoted with saying that imagination is more important than knowledge.

Pisces knows without knowing how it got that knowledge—because it’s inborn information. Trust your inner knowingness.

Enjoy the energies!
