Great Night of Shiva Quick Guide & 9 Reasons to Celebrate

Great Night of Shiva

“The most important time is Shivaratri Night. [Maha] Shivaratri is “The Great Night of Shiva.” It is the night that everyone has a possibility to move into a higher state of consciousness, enlightenment in the case of those who are seeking it, and removal of karma for ordinary human beings who are running their daily life.” – Dr. Pillai

  • The Great Night Of Shiva is a 12-hour time frame when Shiva’s consciousness is available at an abundant rate.
  • This night is a one-of-a-kind opportunity given by Lord Shiva for everyone to merge with his consciousness.

Below is a quick guide for a one-minute meditation you can perform during this special occasion.

Shiva’s Ultimate Power Sounds

  • The mantra (NA MA SI VA YA) is referred to as the Maha Mantra, which represents the power of all 5 elements: Earth (NA), Water (MA), Fire (SI), Air (VA), and space (YA).
  • Dr. Pillai says you can take advantage of this mantra at any time, but on this Maha Shivaratri Night in particular, it holds more power.
  • The 5 elements each hold immense power and are believed to be within us. By practicing this mantra, we can establish our connection to the 5 elements.
  • The idea is to put the sounds “Na, Ma, Si, Va, Ya” into different parts of the body. This is said to be very helpful because the sound goes directly into the subtle (energetic) body.

Power Sounds and Chakras

Mantras are power sounds the Yogis discovered within their deep meditations.

You have the power to shift your intelligence by changing the sounds you are attuned to. When you change the sounds you are attuned to, the sounds will create the corresponding intelligence, given that they are the right power sounds. All you need to do is delve deep into the sound, and then the sound waves create accordingly.

Dr. Pillai finds the use of sounds (mantras) in the appropriate way to be the most productive way of gaining a transcendental experience, and time is an important factor too.

Scriptures say that meditating, and keeping vigil, during the Great Night of Shiva powertime is equal to a million years of meditation.

Here are the Power sounds and chakras broken down:

NA – Base Chakra

Ma- Naval and Sex Chakra

Shi – Heart Chakra

Va – Throat Chakra

Ya – Third Eye Chakra

  • Chakras are pools of energy that reside in certain regions of your body.
  • Each chakra holds a set of mental, psychological, and physical traits of the individual.
  • Try to go beyond your physical body and activate these chakras by focusing on these chakras during your meditation.
  • You can prolong your visit to each chakra, and you can also do this meditation multiple times in a row. It is flexible.
  • You can change the order of the syllables and the sequence, and notice what parts of the brain are being activated:

MaSiVaYaNa

SiVaYaNaMa

VaYaNaMaSi

YaNaMaSiVa

1 Minute Meditation

  • Starting from the base of your spine, at the root chakra, chant the sound ‘Na.’
  • Follow the same process with the sounds mentioned earlier with their relevant chakras.
