Sucharita welcomed us on the AstroVed and Pillai Center Powertime Practice<\/em><\/strong> call by reminding us all why we are here together.\u00a0 We are here to learn about the powerful energy times of the days, weeks and months that are available for us to take advantage of.\u00a0 Right now we are in the midst of Mahalaya Paksha<\/a><\/strong>, which is a two week period to honor the ancestors.<\/p>\n

Who are our ancestors?\u00a0 These are people who have passed from this life and who share our DNA, physical and spiritual.\u00a0 We inherit the biological traits from our parents but we also inherit their karma and thoughts.\u00a0 During this two week period we will experience 15 moons.\u00a0 Sucharita invites us to look at the last several days. Have there been accidents?\u00a0 Have there been illnesses? Family dramas? If our ancestors are unhappy, restless or angry, they can bother us.\u00a0 They want us to appease, feed and propitiate them.\u00a0 This is why we perform tarpanam<\/strong> rituals for them on a daily basis, as well as during this two week period.<\/p>\n

Sucharita demonstrated how to perform the tarpanam ritual. The ingredients that we need for the ritual are white rice flour,<\/strong> black sesame seeds<\/strong> and a coin<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you can find Dharba Grass<\/strong> (Desmostachya bipinnata<\/em>), you can add a blade of this (You can find Dharba grass by searching on the internet).\u00a0 Place the rice flour with black sesame seeds on top of a coin in the palm of your hand.\u00a0 Add a few drops of water on top of this mixture and offer it to your ancestors.\u00a0 It is not necessary to name them by name, but just offer the tarpanam to 6 generations of passed ancestors.\u00a0 As you continue to do this for years, you can add more and more generations to the list of ancestors.\u00a0 Ask them to accept this offering and then cross over to higher realms and not to forget to bless you when they get there.\u00a0 Watch a video on how to perform tarpanam<\/a>.<\/p>\n
