He is the seventh divine avatar, or incarnation, of Lord Vishnu.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u00a0Rama is always portrayed as\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">youthful and typically has green or blue skin, holds a bow and arrows, and wears a yellow robe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Rama is one of the most widely worshiped Hindu gods and is recognized as the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">embodiment of chivalry and virtue. It is believed that he was an actual historical figure, and that\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">he was born to Earth in order to vanquish the evil forces of the time. He was, in all regards, the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">perfect man.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Every year on the ninth day of Chaitra, the first month in the Hindu calendar, a celebration occurs marking the anniversary of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Rama\u2019s birth. <strong>This celebration is known as Rama Navami.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Starting on the first day of Chaitra, many observers begin a fast\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">that will conclude with Rama Navami on the ninth day. This happens sometime between March and April\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">on the Georgian calendar and <strong>this year the celebration will fall on April 2, 2020.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How Rama Navami is Celebrated<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">People celebrate Rama Navami through chants and prayers, as well as a holy offering from God\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">known as prasaad. Images of Lord Rama are kept in temples and homes to be worshiped. In\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">the morning observers offer fruits and flowers, recite traditional prayers, and chant hymns.
