“What is a religion and what is a cult?<\/p>\n

A religion is what I practice and a cult is what you practice.<\/p>\n

That is the difference and people have to understand this in that sense.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a matter of losing your own following or anything.<\/p>\n

It is a matter of bringing together all of the resources we have in order to create The Golden Age. That is the most important thing.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Word Religions’ Bad Rap<\/span><\/h4>\n

Already religion has a bad name because it divides rather than unites people.<\/p>\n

That is true. Where ever you go, the problems are created by religion.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not by religion, it is by institutions created by religion, and by people who have created religion.<\/p>\n

The followers are the problem, not as much the teachers, but in some cases the teachers are the problems too.<\/p>\n

But then the religions in general if you look at it objectively, have created a lot of divisions among people.<\/p>\n

People die for the sake of religion.<\/p>\n

Look at what\u2019s happening between the Hindus, the Muslims, the Jews, the Christians, and the Arabs, all of the problems are due to religion.<\/p>\n

So what we have to do in the Golden Age is we have to come together and our only identity should be: \u2018 We are like brothers and sisters.’<\/p>\n

Then we have to have the common goal to assert ourselves to know: \u2018Who we are and our own strength.\u2019<\/p>\n

Our own strength lies in understanding our own Inner Being.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Where We Went Wrong<\/span><\/h4>\n

We are identifying ourselves with the altered ego, or the consciousness that shifted its attention from being to becoming.<\/p>\n

We are being.<\/p>\n

We are not the becoming which is the altered ego.<\/p>\n

The altered ego is the one that creates the problem of limitation of limited identity.<\/p>\n

We have to get beyond all of these things.<\/p>\n

That is an important teaching that you find everywhere. It is not a teaching that is not particular to one particular religion, it is there everywhere ….<\/p>\n

that you are a spark of the Divine.<\/p>\n

Maybe there are differences in saying that you cannot become God, but you can become Godly. That\u2019s ok. At least that is acceptable.<\/p>\n

Instead we are completely, completely getting God out of our system, and that is really the problem. It has caused too many problems in this world.<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Mainstream-izing Spirituality<\/span><\/h4>\n

The main thing we need to do is, what I have coined a term for, is \u2018mainstreamizing<\/em>‘ spirituality.<\/p>\n

Spirituality is now looked down upon by scientists.<\/p>\n

There is no respect when you talk about God. That\u2019s why God is not in schools and colleges.<\/p>\n

A Guru is suspect. They suspect his intentions.<\/p>\n

I know that very well because in my early twenties when I decided to follow the Mahesh Yogi, the TM movement, my family was very upset.<\/p>\n

Then when I went to Rishikesh and started studying with him, they were very concerned that I was simply lost.<\/p>\n

Then when I started teaching TM, I had the same problem.<\/p>\n

There are so many scientific experiments available to prove that you can even change your intelligence, your IQ, so what\u2019s the problem?<\/p>\n

So I went about teaching people: \u2019Why can\u2019t you learn these things?\u2019<\/p>\n

<\/h4>\n

Listening to Everyone<\/span><\/h4>\n

The stumbling block was the association with a Guru.<\/p>\n

If it is science, then the universities and everything will accept it.<\/p>\n

If it is associated with a religious leader, then religion really becomes a problem.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why mainstream-izing<\/em> is a key term that needs to be done collectively by bringing Science and Religion together and to prove that Religion and God are not out of the framework of Science.<\/p>\n

Science now, Quantum Physics is making provisions to understand the paranormal.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s ok that you go to a Christian Evangelistical meeting, or the Hare Krishna meeting, or Osho dancing.<\/p>\n

In fact when I was in India, I was very fond of Osho and his program called Nataraj. I was by myself and one of my enlightening experiences took place when I was dancing to Osho\u2019s \u2018The Nataraj\u2019.<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s not a matter of one Guru versus another Guru.<\/p>\n

There are things you can learn from everyone.<\/em><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a tremendous amount of fear among these Gurus and we have to get rid of this and then come to a platform.<\/p>\n

This platform is just unity … to create unity.<\/p>\n

Everyone can benefit from the other people.”<\/p>\n
