Soolini Durga is a powerful Hindu Goddess. She is one of the nine forms of Goddess Durga<\/a> (popularly known as Nava Durga). Soolini Durga is hailed as \u201cPaharon ki Rani\u201d, The Queen of Mountains. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Legend of Shoolini Durga<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Shoolini Durga<\/a> is the consort of Lord Sharabeshwara, one of the Sixty-four forms of Lord Shiva<\/a>. As per the Puranas, Lord Shiva took the Sarabha avatar to save the world from the rage of Narasimha, the fourth avatar of Lord Vishnu.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vishnu took the Narasimha (half-lion \u2013 half-human) avatar to kill Hiranyakashipu, the tyrant demon king. Vishnu as Narasimha split open the heart of the demon king and drank his blood. Even after killing Hiranyakashipu, Lord Narasimha did not cool down and his rage grew and started thrashing the Devas. Even Goddess Mahalakshmi<\/a>, the wife of Lord Vishnu was afraid and was not ready to go near Narasimha.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lord Brahma, Mahalakshmi and Devas ran to Lord Shiva and sought his help. Lord Shiva acceded to their request and took the form of Sarabha to control Lord Narasimha. Sarabha means King of Birds. Shiva as Sarabeswara looked very enormous and carried various weapons. He had Goddess Pratyangira and Goddess Shoolini Durga as his huge wings and quelled Lord Narasimha\u2019s anger by embracing him with his wings. Sarabha\u2019s embrace helped Lord Narasimha to realize his real self and he calmed down.<\/span><\/p>\n

Soolini Durga played a major role in quelling the rage of Narasimha. She was one of the wings of Sarabha along with Goddess Prathyangira.<\/span><\/p>\n
