Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity. Wealth is important in the preservation of life on Earth, and<\/span> Lakshmi provides all beings with both material and spiritual abundance.<\/b><\/span> Lakshmi is one of the most frequently appearing goddesses in Hindu texts. She is first referenced in <\/span>Rig Veda<\/span><\/a>, and is also mentioned in <\/span>Atharvaveda<\/span><\/a>. She is explored more in-depth in the <\/span>Puranas<\/span><\/a>, especially in <\/span>Vishnu Purana<\/span><\/a>, and she is also regularly named in <\/span>Upanishads<\/span><\/a>, which talk about her powers, characteristics, and other aspects of this goddess of wealth and prosperity.<\/span><\/span> The word <\/span>Lakshmi <\/span><\/i>is derived from the Sanskrit word <\/span>Laksya<\/span><\/i>, meaning \u201caim\u201d or \u201cgoal\u201d.
