Guru Consciousness & Ego Dissolutionwith Dr. Pillai5 pm EDT
Early Registration Closes In
Guru Purnima is a Full Moon that is traditionally regarded as a time when the connection between teacher and student becomes more accessible.
This in-person retreat offers a rare opportunity to step away from daily routines and spend several days focused on inner awareness, guided by Dr. Pillai in a live setting.
Being physically present allows for a different kind of engagement, both in terms of attention and the ability to participate more fully in guided practices and initiation sessions.
Over four days, the program follows a natural progression, from understanding the mind and ego, to exploring higher knowledge, to receiving initiation, and finally integrating the experience into daily life.
What makes this retreat distinct is the opportunity to spend several days in the physical presence of the Guru during Guru Purnima.
In this tradition, being with the Guru is considered part of the learning itself. Seeing, listening, and sitting in that presence are all understood as ways awareness can shift, sometimes in ways that are subtle and unfold over time.
The Retreat is Designed to Support That Experience
Begins with an introduction to Guru Consciousness and the role of the ego. This helps create a foundation for understanding how perception and identity are shaped, and how they may begin to change.
Moves into teachings on Siddhi powers, including how time, memory, and manifestation are described in yogic science. These ideas are presented in a way that connects them to everyday life.
Takes place on the Full Moon, a time traditionally associated with greater receptivity. The initiation on this day is intended to be experienced directly, with participants present in the room.
Brings the retreat to a close with a three-part initiation that draws together what has been introduced over the previous days.
For many, the most meaningful aspect of this retreat is the time spent in the physical presence of the Guru during Guru Purnima. Being in that space—listening, observing, and participating in person—can open the door to a different kind of connection, one that is often felt rather than understood.
In the Siddha tradition, this kind of proximity is said to allow shifts to take place at deeper levels of awareness, beyond the thinking mind. It can touch how you experience yourself at a more fundamental level—your identity, your inner patterns, and your relationship to life itself. These changes are not always dramatic, but they can be significant.
Throughout the retreat, you'll encounter the word Diksha, a Sanskrit term often translated as "initiation." In this context, it points to something more than learning—it refers to a direct inner experience that can unfold in the presence of the Guru.
In the Siddha tradition, knowledge is not only understood intellectually. It is also said to be received through awareness, attention, and connection. Being in the physical presence of a living master is considered an important part of this process, where insight can arise in ways that go beyond words.
Diksha can be offered through different channels, including:
Receiving Diksha in the physical presence of the Guru is regarded in the Siddha tradition as a deeply meaningful step on the spiritual path. It offers an opportunity to experience something inwardly—beyond what can be gained through study alone.
In the Siddha tradition, initiation in the presence of the Guru is said to touch subtler layers of your being—what are sometimes referred to as the astral, causal, or soul level. This can be experienced as a shift in how you relate to yourself, your life, or your sense of identity. For some, this may be felt in the moment; for others, it may continue to unfold gradually over time.
Being physically present during initiation can make a powerful difference. In that shared space, many find it easier to become receptive, allowing the experience to arise naturally. Diksha, in this sense, is not something to analyze, but something to receive through presence, attention, and openness.

Dr. Pillai's Teaching & Initiation Sessions
July 26 · Evening · Surya Pradosham
The retreat opens on Surya (Sun) Pradosham, a powerful Sunday evening when the Sun and Shiva energies come together to remove karma, dissolve ego, and awaken Divine Consciousness.
Dr. Pillai is deeply connected to the Sun God. In Tamil, his birthname, Baskaran means "the one who produces light" or "one who gives us light." The Guru comes as the light of enlightenment that can help you transcend the body, transcend the mind, transcend the ego, and awaken to your true Self.
When the ego dissolves, Divine Consciousness begins to emerge for you to receive:
July 27 · Morning
This session introduces select teachings from the Vibhuti Pada (the Siddhi chapter) of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Participants will be guided through concepts and techniques that can expand perception, particularly insights into time, karma, and soul patterns. Through heightened awareness, you can begin to see what the ordinary mind cannot see—the past-life influences shaping your life and the future possibilities available to you.
The focus will be on practical understanding—what these abilities mean, how they are described in yogic science, and how they relate to personal growth and decision-making.
July 27 · Evening
Building on the morning session, this evening teaching will focus on manifestation from the perspective of Siddha wisdom.
Rather than a purely psychological approach, this session will explore how intention, awareness, and consciousness are believed to interact in shaping reality. Dr. Pillai is expected to share select techniques inspired by ancient yogic texts that relate to bringing thoughts into form.
Gain a deeper understanding of how manifestation is approached within the Siddha lineage, including the role of focus, energy, and alignment with higher intelligence. This can be especially helpful for those looking to experience the connection between inner awareness and external outcomes.
July 28 · Morning · Full Moon
This initiation is centered on connecting with the Siddha lineage—highly revered beings in the yogic tradition who are said to continue guiding humanity.
The session will invoke masters such as Agastya, Kaagapujander, and Vyasa, each associated with profound wisdom, transmission of knowledge, and spiritual evolution.
Experience an energetic initiation that can help you deepen your connection to these lineages. The Full Moon is traditionally considered a time when higher consciousness is more accessible, making it especially supportive for this type of inner work.
July 28 · Evening · Full Moon
The Full Moon night of Guru Purnima is considered the most significant moment of the entire retreat.
This session will include a live initiation from Dr. Pillai. During Guru Purnima, it is traditionally understood that higher intelligence and guidance can become more accessible, and the teachings shared at this time may arise spontaneously in the moment. The initiation is expected to include one or more forms of Diksha (initiation), which in the Siddha tradition refers to a transmission of energy or awareness.
Based on current insights, this may include:
This session is intended to provide a direct experiential component, where participants can receive insights or shifts that go beyond intellectual understanding.
July 29 · Morning
This closing session offers a more personal and direct experience of initiation.
During this time, participants will be invited, one by one, to come before Dr. Pillai and receive a Tri-Diksha transmission in person. In the Siddha tradition, this type of interaction with the Guru is considered especially meaningful, as it allows the initiation to be experienced in a way that is both individual and immediate.
The Tri-Diksha Process May Include
Each interaction is unscripted and may unfold differently for each person. The experience is guided in real time, based on what is appropriate for you at that moment.
In the Siddha framework, these forms of initiation can engage multiple dimensions of human experience—mental, energetic, and subtle. When approached in a focused, in-person setting, they may support a deeper integration of the teachings received throughout the retreat.
Participants may also receive a sacred object, such as a Rudraksha bead or Vibhuti, to serve as a reminder of the experience and a support for ongoing practice.
This session brings the retreat to a close by offering a space where the teachings and practices of the previous days can be experienced in a more personal and direct way—often leaving a lasting impression that continues to unfold over time.
This is an intimate, limited-capacity experience for those who feel called to go deeper.
The Full Moon of the Guru is a spiritually charged powertime that enhances the effectiveness of rituals and spiritual practices. The energy of enlightenment and divine wisdom is more accessible, creating an ideal environment for rituals to amplify your spiritual intentions. Engaging in sacred ceremonies during the Full Moon of the Guru offers a powerful way to honor your Guru and to invite blessings into your life
This year's remedy ceremonies will include Grand Rituals to invoke Dr. Pillai, the Tamil Siddhas, and the saints at their peak powertimes who want to support you in the Golden Age.
