This Interactive Fire Lab will be performed to invoke the Sun, the king of the Vedic planets (called grahas in Sanskrit). The Sun is making a transit into the Zodiac sign of Cancer. The Sun is a very important planet for health, self-esteem and career development. For the next six months, the Sun’s course is said to travel in a southward direction. This period is called Dakshinayana. Dakshinayana starts in mid-July when the Sun enters Cancer, and it ends in mid-January when the Sun enters Capricorn. In the Vedic calendar, there will be many spiritual festivals during these six months. The Sun’s light especially illuminates our inner consciousness during this time.
There is support for inner-directed work during this time (including things like research, writing and other things that may be in the process of creation without being launched yet). This is an auspicious time to propitiate the Sun to increase a positive connection with him during his southward journey for the next six months. This Fire Lab is especially recommended for people who (1) have Sun as their current major or minor planet or influence or (2) have the Moon in their birth chart in the stars of Krittika, Uttara Phalguni or Uttara Ashadha (stars ruled by Sun) or (3) know they have some challenges with health or self-esteem or (4) wish to empower their career with more sense of self worth. On this day, the Moon will in Uttara Ashadha, a star of enlightenment and prosperity, ruled by the Sun. This increases a favorable link to the Sun and helps us be more receptive to his blessings.
