Directions For Using the Vel
- Place the Vel on a clean, sacred altar or a prayer room facing east or north.
- You can perform Abishekam (Hydration Pooja) to the Vel with turmeric water, rose water, or milk according to your personal practice- daily, weekly, or monthly. After Abishekam, rinse the Vel with water and wipe it dry.
- You can put a round dot of sandalwood paste at the center of the Vel.
- You can sit in front of the Vel and meditate daily during Mars Hora or on the 6th Moon.
- You can also offer fresh red flowers while chanting the Mantra 'Om Saravana Bava' 108 times daily during Mars Hora, Tuesdays, or on the 6th Moon days.
