Understanding Hanuman: The Archetype of Impossible Power

Dr. Pillai: My teachings always have been eclectic, and I pick up elements from different traditions, different methods, and incorporate them all. And I don’t care about whether people are going to ridicule me for being so “off-the-wall” sometimes when I talk about rituals, or talk about some mythological characters who look very funny and weird. But they all have a great deal of profound meaning and impact on human consciousness.
One thing that I have been doing consistently is the help from the Gods and Goddesses from different traditions, whether they are from the Egyptian Tradition, or the Greek Tradition, or the Hindu Tradition. They are all very powerful. So the mythology that we find in different traditions are not just superstition, but have great value and practical use.
“The Monkey God” or Hanuman is a good example. You find “The Monkey God” not only in India, although it is a predominant tradition in India. You find “The Monkey God” Tradition in China, in Japan, and I was in Egypt, and in Egypt, I found a statue of “The Monkey God” too.

The Real Problem: Low Self-Esteem

Everybody, by in large, has a low self-esteem. This low self-esteem comes from a lack of understanding of their own Divinity within. Some people, somehow manage to create a high self-esteem and then they are the people who end up as President’s, Prime Ministers and Kings and Queens – and they all have the highest self-esteem.

Hanuman is all powerful, and he has the highest self-esteem. Although he is a monkey, his self-esteem is the highest. This comes out of his own power and his ability to do everything. He is often called an “Asathya Sadaswami,” which means: “One who can do the impossible”.

The Sound That Connects You to Hanuman: “Hreem”

I am going to introduce you to a very important sound, and the sound has to be used in a certain way. The sound is called Hreem”.

Like any other sound it is also feminine, but its masculine aspect is there because it starts with the sound “hr” which is the sound of Siva. The sound “ree” is the energy of the Sun, or Fire, and the sound “ee” is the sound for desire, and the sound “mmm” is the sound for manifestation – “Hreem”. So you can see in each syllable there is a packet of energy – a specific packet of energy – that can deliver to you that experience or create that experience, or create that matter. That is how powerful it is. It will go and completely reorganize your psychological, and physical makeup, – including your emotions. It is a most powerful sound.

A person who begins to work with this sound will vibrate with a different energy. It will change their aura.

“Hreem” is also used as a mantra for Hanuman in some traditions… because it symbolizes intelligence, light, and doing impossible things!

Five Steps to Connect with Hanuman This Hanuman Jayanti

1. Understand That Hanuman Is an Energy You Can Access

You can access his energy through the monkey, definitely… he has a tremendous amount of power.

2. Know That He Appears Beyond the Physical

The monkey appears… but it is not a real monkey, but then an image of a monkey who is alive and talks… it is like a vision.

3. Use the Sound “Hreem”

Meditate on the sound “Hreem”… it will change your aura and remove embedded problems.

4. Light Ghee Lamps

It is important while you are doing this practice to light ghee lamps according to your age.

5. Ask for Help in Difficult Situations

We have created a ritual to Hanuman, especially for those who are facing a very difficult situation and unable to resolve the problem on a human level… at that point, Hanuman is very powerful.

From Low Self-Esteem to Divine Confidence

Hanuman represents the highest self-esteem, the ability to do the impossible, and the intelligence to act with divine power. Through the sound “Hreem,” through ritual, and through connecting with this Archetype, you begin to reorganize your inner world — your mind, your emotions, and your aura. And that is how self-esteem is not built from the outside… but awakened from within.
