Panchamoorthy Purappadu: Divine Procession and Holy bath of
Panchamoorthy (5 Deities) on the last day when Sun is in Libra

Curse and Sin Absolving Ceremonies in the Divine River Cauvery

On Nov. 16th, AstroVed will be sponsoring a unique divine procession of five deities from a sacred Powerspot located in the riverbank of Cauvery for Theerthavari (holy dip in the sacred river Cauvery), which according to the Powerspot mythology can wash your sins & curses and bless you a life of prosperity and good health. We invite you to join the karma dissolving ceremony that happens once a year, on the last day when the Sun is in the sign Libra, to absolve all kinds of sins and curses.

Significance of the Divine Procession

On the last day of the Tamil month of Aippasi (mid-October to mid-November), five deities (Panchamoorthy) from the sacred Powerspot located on Cauvery riverbank are carried on a divine procession to the holy river Cauvery where they are given a holy bath. The five deities include Lord Ganesha, Lord Muruga with his consorts (Valli and Deivayanai), Lord Somaskandar (in this form, Lord Shiva will be with his consort Parvati and son Muruga), Goddess Soundaranayaki, a form of Parvati (the main female deity of the Powerspot) and Lord Chandikeshwarar (ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, elevated to divine status).

According to the sacred text named Cauvery Mahatmyam, participating and taking a holy dip in the river Cauvery during this ceremony can bestow you with the combined blessings of the five deities and absolve all kinds of sins and curses.

Blessings of Participating in the Divine Procession

According to the Powerspot mythology, participating in the divine procession followed by the holy bath of the five deities on the final day when the Sun is in the sign Libra, can bestow you with the following blessings:

  • Good Progeny – The great Tamil King Raja Raja Chozhan was blessed with a son named Rajendra Chozhan, after worshipping at this sacred Powerspot. Your sincere prayers to the presiding deities at this Powerspot can as well bestow good progeny blessings
  • Alleviate fear of death – There was a wealthy person who committed the worst sins in life. When Yama, the Lord of death, followed him, he sought refuge in Lord Shiva here at this Powerspot. Upon hearing his prayer, Lord Shiva sent Nandi, the divine bull, to his rescue. The fight was so fierce between Yama and Nandi (called as Vrishabha). At one point, it required Lord Shiva’s intervention to save Yama from Nandi. As Lord Shiva saved his devotee, offering your prayers at this sacred Powerspot can alleviate the fear of death
  • Since Nandi fought with Yama in the form of Vrishabha, the bull, it is believed that this Powerspot can eliminate doshas (afflictions) in the birth chart of Taurus (Vrishabha) Moon sign/ Sun sign/ Ascendant and bring favorable blessings
  • Since this divine procession and holy bath ceremonies take place on the last day in the Tamil month Aippasi, when Sun is in Libra, Libra born people can also gain blessings by taking part in the rituals, which includes Libra Moon sign/ Sun sign/ Ascendant
