Every year an exceptional full Moon ushers the return of light and pure love—Guru Purnima—or the Full Moon of the Guru. At this time the purest of all teachings and the benevolence of the teachers are poured onto our Planet.

This year we will celebrate Guru Purnima on July 11 EDT.

In the Indian spiritual traditions, this is the time that all students await for a gigantic step up in their own evolution. In fact, the blessings that are said to come from the Guru during Guru Purnima cannot be overstated. Decades of spiritual and material impasse can be overcome at this time due to the intervention of the Guru. And the rare transit of Jupiter—planet of financial and spiritual expansion—in Cancer, its sign of exaltation, will make this Guru Purnima a memorable one.

For the secularly minded among us, this is a time for honoring all the teachers who have contributed to our knowledge and growth throughout our lives.

For the spiritually oriented it’s the perfect time to look deeper into our beliefs and choose teachings that can improve our lives and bring us the awareness of our divinity.

What to do on Guru Purnima.

After taking a shower, sit in a quiet place and offer light, incense and flowers to the image or statue of your beloved teachers. Mentally ask for guidance on how to proceed in a certain situation or for blessings in your finances or for a blissful relationship. You can also ask for physical healing if you have been unwell.

Some power sounds can help you go deeper into the energy of the Guru:

OM GURAVE NAMAHA (for the planet of material and spiritual growth)

OM NAMA SHIVAYA (for Shiva, the overlord of Jupiter)

Wishing you a miraculous Guru Purnima. Enjoy the energies.
