Dr. Pillai founded the Tripura Foundation as part of his mission to provide food, brain development training, medicine, and other support to the world’s poorest people. The organization is almost 100% volunteer-run to cut down as much as possible on overhead costs.
The HoPE for the Elderly program reaches elders right in their communities – going door-to-door to provide them with food, clothing, medical care, and basic necessities. These elders are often abandoned by their families, left to fend for themselves with little to no income.
The Million Meals of HoPE program aims to cost effectively purchase and distribute food to those who need it most. Every $1 USD provides five meals. Every day, 7,000 people in India die of hunger. Since July 2013, Tripura Foundation has been able to feed over 8 million meals to hungry people each year.
