  5. Sun in Aquarius 2015

aqu sws 1 The Sun entered Aquarius on February 12th, 2015, and will continue the transit until March 14th.

The fiery Sun will be illuminating Aquarius, the most humanitarian of the signs. A humanitarian is someone who works to make other peoples’ lives better. The Sun is our soul, activity, and vitality. Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, a planet of patience and endurance, limitations, compassion and service.

In Sanskrit, Aquarius is called Kumba. Its symbol is a person bearing an empty water pot. Water symbolizes prana, or the cosmic life force. The fact that the pot is empty means that the person has shared with others. The pot can symbolize the individual consciousness; in Aquarius, the individual energy can merge with the universal energy.

Aquarius relates to ending the old way of doing things and birthing a new way of life. An important goal here is to turn away from selfishness and dedicate our efforts for the common good. Aquarius can give you the ability to be noble, selfless, generous, and willing to help others. Innovative thinking, science, and technology thrive here. In Aquarius we can learn that humility is not a sentence to a life of servitude; rather it can be empowering and lead us to higher consciousness.

Aquarius, as the natural 11th house of the zodiac, brings in profit and gains, fulfillment of desires, manifestations, realizations of hopes and dreams, and friendships.

Profitable Activities

  • Ask yourself, “Am I spending my time in the most profitable way?”
  • Embrace innovative thinking, new inventions, and technologies.
  • Take action for opportunities, profits, and gains.
  • Network and make contact with friends, influential people and organizations.
  • Focus on what is right with things rather than what is wrong. Avoid fanaticism and being too idealistic.
  • Champion a cause that will help needy people.

Exalted Venus February 15th – March 12th 2015

venus sws 1Venus, planet of love, devotion, luxury, and the arts, moves into Pisces on February 15th. Venus is exalted in Pisces, the most transcendental of the signs. It is interesting to note that Venus, with its strong association with the Goddess energy, gets exalted in Pisces, the natural 12th house of enlightenment. Perhaps the message there is that if you want enlightenment, go to the Goddess!

The fact that Ketu is also transiting Pisces only increases the Venusian power. Since Ketu is comfortable in Pisces, he can bless one with four types of assets: wisdom, real estate, wealth, and honor. The 200% planet Jupiter is currently exalted in Cancer. Since he is the overlord of Pisces, Jupiter is also increasing the positive blessings available. Mars, planet of courage and problem-solving, is also transiting Pisces. Whenever Mars and Venus are together in a sign, a tremendous amount of passion becomes available.

The 3 and a half weeks of Venus’ exaltation will be a fertile period of time for manifesting relationships, and accumulating wealth, jewelry and property.

Maha Sivaratri on February 16th/17th

Depending on your location in the world, Maha Sivaratri, or the Night of Siva, will be occurring on February 16th or 17th. On this special 14th Waning Moon when the Sun is in Aquarius, everyone has a chance to uplift to a higher level of consciousness. Millions of people in the world will stay awake, fast, and repeat Siva’s sacred mantras on this night.

Dr. Pillai will be holding a Maha Sivaratri webcast on Tuesday, February 17th at 1:30 p.m. EST. Learn more here.

shivaratri sws 1What is Maha Shivaratri?

One of the most holy nights in Vedic traditions is Maha Shivaratri, the Great Night of Shiva. Shivaratri is the auspicious time for every soul to get into elemental consciousness of the Universe, and the unmanifested forces of Nature for transformation. Shiva’s grace is received by keeping vigil and praying to him during the night.

Poojas and prayers offered during Maha Shivaratri are promised to be amplified 10 million times. If there is a time that you can purify your thoughts and activate the empowerment of your goals, it is this special night.

Your Maha Shivaratri Home Practice:

  • Clean your home and clear your mind
  • Fill your mind with thoughts of Shiva
  • Bathe yourself and wear clean comfortable clothes.
  • Fast and feel the bliss.
  • Enjoy yourself! The more joyous we are, the closer we are to the Source of joy and bliss.
  • Chant Shiva’s mantra, OM NAMASIVAYA. Dr. Pillai has also given the mantras VARUVAI SIVA and ARUL SIVAM (watch video here), the Extended One Minute Meditation (watch video here), VAYANAMASI and NAMASIVAYA.
  • Perform abishekham or elemental hydration on a siva linga – every hour if you like. This is where you pour liquids such as milk, orange juice, water over the siva linga as you chant Siva’s mantras. You can pour yogurt, honey, rosewater, and buttermilk too.
  • Sing Shiva’s praise with a full heart
  • Meditate on Shiva and only Shiva. If your mind wanders, bring it back to Shiva’s feet
  • Forget life’s problems, pains of the past, and worries about the future
  • See God in everyone and in everything
