According to the Ganesha-centric sacred text, Mudgala Purana, Lord Ganesha has 32 important forms, or archetypal aspects. Three of these forms have been chosen by Dr. Pillai to be invoked during Lord Ganesha’s 2019 birthday.
In this article, we are going to take a closer look at their significance, how they can bless you, and mantras to connect with them.
Maha Ganapati
Maha Ganapati, or the “Great Lord of Ganas,” is considered by some sects of Ganesha worship as Ganesha’s most important form representing the supreme God-head. In this form, Ganesha shares similarities with his father, Lord Shiva, as he has three eyes and wears a crescent moon on his head. One of the special attributes of this form of Lord Ganesha is it is considered to be one of the five “shakti” Ganeshas. This is because he has the Goddess, who some believe to be Mahalakshmi (the Great Goddess of Wealth), seated on his left lap, making the form very powerful.
Lord Krishna himself is said to have worshipped this form of Lord Ganesha in a special temple in his home city of Dwarka. Additionally, the star Pushya, which is considered the most auspicious of the 27 nakshatras, is associated with this form of Lord Ganesha, further indicating its importance.
Key Benefits
According to scriptures, the benefits of worshipping Maha Ganapati are numerable. Some of the most prominent include:

Haridra Ganapati
Haridra Ganapati, or the “Golden Colored Lord of Ganas,” is a unique aspect of Lord Ganesha whose form is considered to be made of turmeric. His appearance, like turmeric, is a bright gold complexion. He also wears yellow clothes and is depicted seated upon a royal throne. According to sacred texts, the Goddess was once so pleased with Lord Ganesha that she blessed him to appear this way, with a golden aura and complexion.
After this transformation, it is said the power of wealth, supernormal powers, and divine intelligence, represented by the Goddesses Riddhi, Siddhi, and Buddhi respectively, all came and merged themselves with him. Additionally, the Goddess told Haridra Ganapati that whoever worshiped him ritually would obtain whatever they ask for, quickly, and that those whose golden phase of life is about to begin will be attracted to his worship.
