  5. Maha Sivaratri is March...

siva_ut

NOTE: This week’s (March 6, 2016) Sundays with Sucharita Call is postponed due to Sucharita traveling in remote parts of India. We will try to have the call next week, and we’ll send you an email a day or two before to confirm.

For now, Sucharita reminds you that Maha Sivaratri is the night of Monday, March 7, 2016 in North America. Maha Sivaratri is the great night of Siva that takes place on the eve of the new moon every year when Sun is in Aquarius. On this night if you keep a vigil, Siva can remove a huge amount of karma from you, giving you a clean slate for the next year. In fact, Dr. Pillai has said meditating on Siva this night will be equal to millions of years of meditation.

Read and download the Maha Sivaratri Quick Guide.

  1. Dr. Pillai recommends you do the Extended One-Minute Meditation as much as possible, or chant “OM NAMASIVAYA.”
  2. You can also use the two secretive mantras, VARUVAI SHIVA for wealth and ARUL SHIVAM for health and grace.
  3. If you have access to Bilva leaves, put one on a Shiva Lingam or an image of Shiva and “it will do a world of good for you and your family.” If you don’t have access to Bilva leaves, we are offering a way for you to receive the same benefits via proxy – click here.
  4. In addition, you can do a simple Hydration Ceremony (Abishekam) at least at midnight, and if possible once per hour starting at 6 p.m. through 6 a.m.

For an enhanced experience, consider signing up for Dr. Pillai’s Maha Sivaratri Webcast, where he will give you a different mantra for each of the four kalas, or 3-hour time periods between 6 pm and 6 am.
