Three Retrograde Planets in Mid May 2020: Saturn, Venus and Jupiter

During this time of global pandemic and financial challenge, many people are wondering when or even if things will go back to “normal.”

Three planets go retrograde (appear from our view on Earth to be moving backward) during the same week in the middle of May 2020. From a Vedic point of view, when planets go retrograde, they become stronger.

This suggests a marked shift in vibrations that influence us. We may all need to realize and accept the immediate future opens into a period of continuous change. Some structures may be dissolved, and there are possibilities for transformation in all aspects of life.

These are the dates of the upcoming retrograde activity:

  • Saturn: turns retrograde in Capricorn on May 11, 2020 in North America and India. He goes direct in Capricorn on September 29, 2020 in North America and India.
  • Venus: turns retrograde in Taurus on May 13, 2020 in North America and India. He goes direct in Taurus in North America and India on June 25, 2020.
  • Jupiter: turns retrograde in Capricorn on May 14, 2020 in North America and India. He enters Sagittarius as retrograde on June 29, 2020 in North America and June 30, 2020 in India. He turns direct in Sagittarius on September 12, 2020 and September 13, 2020 in India.

Saturn Retrograde in Capricorn

Saturn is the one who matures the soul. It is through hardships that he educates the soul.” ~ Dr. Pillai

Saturn rules Capricorn, and he is powerful in this sign. The retrograde motion will amplify his energies for perseverance and concern for the sufferings of others. There could be more sacrifice required during this period.

This will be good a time to flush out selfishness and put more concentration on being patient with others. We can sometimes be blind to our own flaws, and Saturn may assist our growth by bringing some of these to our attention.

If we apply ourselves to improve our organizational skills, Saturn can help us make steady progress. If we follow through on our responsibilities, Saturn can give blessings toward our career goals.

Venus Retrograde in Taurus

Venus is a fun planet. It’s because of Venus that we have happiness in this world, particularly happiness pertaining to acquisition of material wealth and fulfillment of the senses such as luxury, vacation, clothes, jewelry and anything that gives you satisfaction.” ~ Dr. Pillai

Venus is the planet of joy. During this period he can heal some of the isolation that people have suffered from.

We are naturally social beings, and he can support us in finding loving and gracious connections with people even if some of us must still continue to follow some social distancing guidelines in some areas.

Venus is ruled by Lakshmi, a feminine archetype of grace, purity, beauty and abundance.  Dr. Pillai has taught the sounds Shreem Brzee to especially invoke her in modern times.

While Venus is retrograde, he can give multiplied strength to our chanting or practice of rituals with the sounds Shreem Brzee.

Among the planets, Venus is considered the diplomat. His peace-loving blessings can prompt some reconciliation among those who are willing to work for unity.

Jupiter Retrograde in Capricorn

Jupiter is a very benevolent planet and represents compassion, purity and ability to do good things. He is considered as the teacher, the teacher par excellence. He is the number one teacher. That’s why Jupiter is called Guru. The word Guru literally means the remover of ignorance.”  ~ Dr. Pillai

During this period, Jupiter can encourage us to be serious about our work. He can stimulate growth in leadership skills.

Jupiter can open up wisdom and help expand our integrity. He may help us reflect on consolidating lessons learned during this period of global challenges.

As a planet associated with teaching and education, he can assist us with learning some new skills during this time and bless those who are gifted with new training opportunities. He can support those who counsel others.

He can deepen our meditations and give us fresh insights on our path of Self-Discovery.

During this period, he may expose issues with our banking systems or our legal systems.

Jupiter can release some energies of hope and confidence, assuring us that this, too, will pass.

Science News: A Call for Collective Ingenuity

According to the NASA site:

“NASA, ESA (European Space Agency) and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) are inviting coders, entrepreneurs, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, artists, and technologists to participate in a virtual hackathon May 30-31, 2020 dedicated to putting open data to work in developing solutions to issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the global Space Apps COVID-19 Challenge, participants from around the world will create virtual teams that – during a 48-hour period – will use Earth observation data to propose solutions to COVID-19-related challenges ranging from studying the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and its spread to the impact the disease is having on the Earth system. Registration for this challenge opens in mid-May.

‘There’s a tremendous need for our collective ingenuity right now,’ said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. ‘I can’t imagine a more worthy focus than COVID-19 on which to direct the energy and enthusiasm from around the world with the Space Apps Challenge that always generates such amazing solutions.’”

This could be a very creative use of the retrograde energies!

Practical Actions of Compassion

A gentle reminder that all the planets like it when we perform acts of compassion. It is always a good gesture to do an act of kindness for others such as feed a hungry person or help an elderly or a disabled person or make a donation to Dr. Pillai’s charity Tripura Foundation or any other charity of our choice.

Currently Tripura Foundation is expanding their Million Meals of Hope program as part of an urgent response to the COVID-19 crisis. Donations to this program are being used for:

  1. The most heavily relied upon food banks in the United States
  2. Partnership with Indian government feeding initiatives
  3. Special deliveries where allowed for children and elders of our Hope programs

Thank you to everyone who is contributing to this effort. It is truly appreciated.

May we align with the positive blessings of Saturn, Venus and Jupiter during their retrograde periods and be open to releasing old patterns and applying creativity in fresh ways.

May light encompass all.
