Sucharita welcomed us on the Powertime Practice (PTP) call on Saturday January 13, 2018 by mentioning what a power-packed time is coming up!  If possible, get the AstroVed calendar so we can keep track of the time shaktis and tap into the energies that are available, as well as avoid any pitfalls.  This way, we can begin control our karma.

Sun transits into Capricorn on Sunday, January 14th. This is the Vedic Winter Solstice, a time of renewal and longer days.  This is a good time to thank the Sun for giving us life and universal blessings. Capricorn is 10th house of the zodiac and has to do with profession.  This coming month is a good time to energize your goals.  This sign of Capricorn also has to do with ancient past life knowledge and past karma, as well.  You may become aware of strengths that you never knew you had or you may begin to see some old karma playing out!

The next three days are an excellent time to let go of things that are no longer serving you.  Pray to Lord Shiva! Also good time to stop a bad habits, such as smoking or gossiping.  Today is the 13th moon and is Saturday pradosham and the star of the day is Jyeshta.  All this makes it a good time to help others and donate to others. Tomorrow is the 14th moon, Ganesha’s moon, offer bermuda grass to Ganesha.  Monday afternoon through Tuesday is the Thai Amavasya New Moon when you can cleanse ancestral karma by offering tarpanam to your ancestors.

On Saturday and Sunday, we can participate in the Pradosham ritual. This is a time to cleanse ourselves of past karma.  Saturn rules Saturday so when Pradosham happens on a Saturday it is called Sani Pradosham.  Sucharita showed us a ritual to perform on this day using crystal statues and implements such as a Shiva linga, a vel, Nandi the bull (Siva’s vehicle), a sun and Ganesha and pouring water on them.  She lit some incense to cleanse the area of negativity, while chanting Om Gum Ganapataye Namaha.  She says to focus our energy on the base of the spine.  Take a bit of water and pour on the statues while gazing at the object while chanting the mantra associated with each element.  Then she repeated the process using a bit of milk, then juice.  This ritual is called Abishekam or hydration.  Then she offered some sweet things such as nuts and raisin, and then offered a flower to the archetypes.  Offering our prayers with flowers is like sending our prayers using text messaging, as opposed to the old fashioned method of hand delivering messages with the Pony Express!

Then she showed us how to make a sesame oil lamp to propitiate Lord Saturn.  These rituals are some of the spiritual technologies that Sr. Pillai is giving us.  Dr. Pillai is an enlightened master and has permission from the Divine Beings to pass these tools and techniques to us so make our lives better and help us on our spiritual endeavors to enlightenment!  Dr. Pillai always says that “Faith is utter positivity!”  Doing our spiritual practices will help us keep our faith.

Sucharita tells us that there is a special time upcoming at the end of the month when light will come pouring in called Thai Poosam. Thai is the name of this Vedic Month and Poosam has to do with the star Pushya, the Star of enlightenment.  Dr. Pillai says “The Pushya star has the ability to transform matter into Light. It is a star that is sacred for Muruga, who is the Pleiadian God for Enlightenment of the 3rd eye” Read more here.
