Sucharita welcomed us all on the Powertime Practice call this Saturday, September 12, 2020, during this special time of Mahalaya Paksha. This is the time of the year where the departed ancestors are the closest to the earth plane and want to be fed. We want to get blessings from our ancestors because without that, Dr. Pillai says, we cannot advance in our spiritual path. We inherit not only physical but the soul DNA from them. Dr. Pillai has coined a term for this, called “Soul Genetics.” Check out Pillai Academy’s Soul Genetics Course. There is a ritual that we can perform called “Tarpanam,” which feeds and honors the ancestors. Look below in the Powertimes section on the New Moon to see a video on how to perform this ritual.
Today, we are in the 11th Moon phase of the Mahalaya Paksha, which is ruled by Lord Vishnu, who will fulfill your heart’s desires. Vishnu is associated with the ancestor realm, and this is a time where your ancestors, who were successful when they were embodied on earth, can help you out with your finances. The 11th Moon also grants children prosperity and intelligence. The 12th Moon is for continuation of lineage and success from education. Then the 13th Moon is a time for karma busting, and the 14th Moon is for obstacle busting. And following that, the New Moon is a very powerful time to connect with the ancestors. If the ancestors are stuck in the earth plane, then this is the time to help them to move along.
Dr. Pillai says, “If you miss any of the above days, performing Tarpanam on the New Moon is believed to be vital. It is considered the most important and most impactful of all the Moon phases of Mahalaya. During this day, your known and unknown ancestors that have departed during the last 30 years are treated equal to God. It is also an essential day for doing Tarpanam for those who died due to weapons or accidents.” It is said that the ancestors that have passed away during the last 30 years from accident or illness, can be freed with your help. They may be in a traumatized state and they may need your help. There are many services offered at Pillai Center where the specialists perform Tarpanam rituals for the well-being of the departed ancestors.

The 13th Moon phase is called Pradosham, a karma-removing time. 1 1/2 hours before sunset through sunset is the most powerful time to pray to Siva to dissolve your bad karma. Hydrate a sivalinga by pouring water/milk/juice over it as you chant the karma busting mantra, Thiru Neela Kantam Makaral Shivayanama. Visualize blue light in your throat. Roll and break a coconut or lime(s) to remove karma.
