This first installment of the Karma series presents Dr. Pillai’s explanation of karma and a simple Mid Brain Tapping practice for erasing karmic thought patterns.
Understanding Thought as Action
Dr. Pillai:
“ What’s karma? Literally, the word means action, but thinking is also an action. So karma is better defined as a thought process; as deposits within the Brain, you know, that follow you life, after life, after life.
Some people have good karma, but most people have bad karma. The purpose here is to help those who have become victims of bad karma.
Karma Explained Through Neuroscience and the Brain
I said that karma can be better defined in terms of thoughts. And I would now further refine it and say, in terms of neuroscience, in terms of deposits within the brain that make a particular individual become a very successful professional, vs. somebody who is confused and who doesn’t even have a job.
I’ve done a lot of research with students who were succeeding in the schools and who weren’t succeeding in the schools. I had three PhDs in India about 3 years ago and found that karma plays a very important role, and I am not going to go into that now.
Is Karma Deterministic or Can It Be Changed?
Everybody is subjected to karma. Karma is a set pattern. Having said that, it doesn’t mean that it is a deterministic philosophy, not fatalism, not just fate. You can get beyond karma.
Identity, the Frontal Lobe, and Karmic Patterns
What you have to do is you have to get beyond all of your identities, your job identities, your relationship identities, your other social identities. All of these are primarily in the Frontal Lobe.
One technique that is very useful is what we have practiced, and we are going to stick with it.
Mid Brain Tapping Technique to Erase Karmic Deposits
Close your eyes.
And then with your pinkie, tap in between the two eyebrows, and feel.
Even with the one tap, you will feel it between the eyebrows, and also at the Muladhara, which is the Root Chakra.
And then you go on tapping, tap.
At each tap, tap and feel energy exploding.
As it explodes, it erases your karmic deposits, which give you identity.
“I’m a doctor, I’m an engineer,” all of these identities will be gone.
In addition, the midbrain will open.
The midbrain is beyond logic, and that’s how it works.
Again, tap, tap, tap.
Keep on doing. Each time you tap, feel.
It’s very simple. You can do it anytime.
There are no hard-and-fast rules.”
