On any other day, your practice benefits you, but on a Full Moon, everything you do is amplified. Dr. Pillai teaches that planetary radiation affects us continuously, and the Full Moon carries the innate energy of abundance.
Divine Energy and Goddess Lakshmi
The Full Moon is a time when divine beings, particularly goddesses, are fully present. While mythology suggests that these goddesses travel between realms, during the Full Moon, they all gather, making it an ideal time to connect with their energies.
Goddess Lakshmi, who blesses us with abundance, prosperity, beauty, and material well-being, is particularly active during this time. This is why chanting Shreem Brzee during the Full Moon is especially beneficial. If you seek joy, beauty, and an expanded abundance consciousness, use this time to chant Shreem Brzee with added intention.
Full Moon Practices
Here’s what you can do to maximize the Full Moon’s energy:
- Chant Shreem Brzee at least 108 times daily (more if possible).
- Write Shreem Brzee 108 times a day, and on the Full Moon, aim for 1,008 times if you can.
- Set aside 20–60 minutes for deep meditation.
- If possible, meditate in a group for greater collective energy.
- Perform a ritual, as Dr. Pillai says rituals can be even more powerful than meditation.

The Special Energy of the Masi Magha Full Moon
This Full Moon is even more significant because it aligns with Masi Magha, a powerful Tamil astrological event. When the Magha star falls within the Masi month, it brings leadership, power, authority, and a sense of royalty.
In the U.S., the Magha star is on March 12, and the Full Moon is on March 13. While they don’t perfectly overlap in every time zone, this period is still considered the Masi Magha Full Moon, a time for royal consciousness.
Honoring Ancestors During This Time
Masi Magha is also a time to honor ancestors, though typically, offerings are made on New Moons. Offering prayers and small rituals for ancestors helps elevate their souls and, in return, brings blessings to you and your family.
On the Full Moon, divine beings, saints, and angels descend to the earth plane, and ancestors also come closer, giving us a chance to honor them. This act of giving helps them move into higher realms while simultaneously bringing blessings into your life.
To make an ancestor offering (Tarpanam):
- Take a teaspoon of rice and black sesame seeds in your right hand.
- Add a little water and face south.
- Offer it while praying:
“Ancestors from my mother’s and father’s sides, please accept this offering. Nourish your soul, release attachments, and ascend to higher realms. Bless me and my family.”
- Rinse off the offering.
If you don’t have Darbha grass, you can substitute it with rice flour or white sesame seeds if black sesame seeds are unavailable.
