Namaste  fellow spiritual travelers!

Today is the 4th moon and that is a time of Ganesha. On 4th and 14th moon days Ganesha can remove a tremendous amount of karma and obstacles. Sucharita demonstrated how to take a coconut or lemon/lim and use it suck out the bad karma from our ethereal bodies. You can roll a coconut or lime on:

  • your eyes (to rid the karma from what we have seen)
  • your mouth (to help us get rid of karma from gossiping, eating, addictions etc)
  • your ears (to rid the karma from what we have heard and remembered)
  • your forehead (the brain is where all those karmic thoughts are hanging out!)
  • your throat, where a lot of karma resides.  We ask Siva to take the karma from us while visualizing a blue light around the throat.
  • your shoulders (shoulders carry a lot of karma)
  • your belly (karma is also stored here)
  • anywhere your body needs healing.

Chant Gum, Gum Gum or Om Gum Ganapataye.  These are the seed sounds for Ganesha.  She reminds us that we are light and sound and when we chant the mantras we are affecting the very atoms of our beings in a positive way.  When finished with the rolling of the coconuts, she told us how to smash the coconut in an easy manner or cut the limes and discard them.

Some members have purchased proxy coconut smashing where the priest in India will smash coconuts for us…how easy is that?

Karma can just sneak up on us, unannounced, and knock us for a loop. We don’t know what our karma has in store for us and that’s we why we need to continually “bust” our karma using the techniques that Dr. Pillai has taught us.

Monday, January 22 will be the 6th moonMuruga’s power time. Sucharita demonstrated how to call on Muruga, the brother of Ganesha, by rolling limes in the same manner that we just learned with Ganesha and coconuts.  She says to make a little slit in the lime to make it easy to pierce the lime with Muruga’s spear, the vel.

When we hold the vel in our hands we are activating chakras there and messages are sent to our brain.  Imagine that the shaft of the vel is our backbone and the head of the vel is our brain.  Imagine the tip of the vel piercing the top of the skull or the crown chakra.  We experience the energies of Ganesha and Muruga coming up through all our chakras from the root chakra (Mooladhara) all the way to the crown chakra (Sahasrara).  More about the chakras.

Sucharita showed us her Saturn lamp which is an oil lamp with sesame oil and black sesame seeds. There is an erukku wick with two cotton wicks twisted around it so it will burn better. The erukku wick is associated with the 9 planets and is a negativity buster.  Sucharita burns her Saturn lamp on Saturday all day long.  She says that the gods love these lamps with ghee (clarified butter) and/or sesame oil.

The AstroVed Calendar and Astroved’s Astropedia help you to know what the time shaktis (energies) of the day are.

Shani is the name for Saturn and “Sanecharaya” is the seed sound to contact Lord Saturn.  Saturn gives us strength, compassion, patience, and endurance.  Saturn will rip away things that no longer serve us.  It may be hard at the time, but it is always fore the best in the long run. Every 30 years everyone will go through Sade Sati, 7 ½ years when Saturn makes a big impact on our lives. The timing varies per person.  Learn how Sade Sati may affect you in general based on your moon sign. Lord Hanuman is the overlord of Saturn and is the only one who can control Saturn. Get the blessings from Hanuman on Saturdays!

The Sun’s birthday, Ratha Sapthami, is coming up on January 23rd, when you can connect to the Sun’s energy for healing and empowerment and enjoy a LIVE webcast at 4:30 pm PST / 7:30 pm EST.

Maha Sivaratri, the Great Night of Siva, is coming up on February 13th.

Astrology consultations from Astroved are a great way to find out what planets can help you with your goals.
